Is it Tuesday the eighth? Seriously?

After a week of April Foolery, cross-state plane shennanigans and Dave drawing countless pictures of bulldogs, we’re putting our brains back together and blogging some dope stuff for you guys this week. But before we get there, it’s time to mention what we mostly get paid to do — put out Wizard Magazine!

It’s plannin’ time for our annual Summer Preview issue, and since Dave and I will be handling the indie coverage for all comics you can read while at camp, I thought I’d open the floor to all three of our readers to suggest what kinds of books you’d like to see highlighted in the print side of our little operation.

So, if you’re a creator with a comic, graphic novel or web comic hitting the stands in the months of June, July or August, please drop me a line. Any preview pages and art that we can look at now can help us decide what best works as well. While I can’t promise everything will make the issue, I can promise we’ll read and consider everything, so let us know what you’re up to, huh?

And keep checking the blog later this week for a new Review column, some admirable interviews and a few other ridiculous features we have in the pipeline.

Life on the Edge http://indiejones.wizarduniverse.com/2008/03/11/life-on-the-edge/ http://indiejones.wizarduniverse.com/2008/03/11/life-on-the-edge/#comments Tue, 11 Mar 2008 16:21:17 +0000 Kiel Phegley http://indiejones.wizarduniverse.com/2008/03/11/life-on-the-edge/ Hey there gang!

For anyone out there who hasn’t picked up Wizard #198, Dave headed up the super awesome ‘Wizard Edge’ section in the page which presents a dozen pages of news, interviews and reviews of some of our favorite upcoming indie projects.

To spread the word to online folks who haven’t seen the print mag yet, we’ve been posting up some of the Edge features online for folks to read, including…

RASL

Dave’s ridiculously cool profile of Jeff Smith and his latest self-published series RASL.

Echo

Frequent Wizard contributor Jake Rossen’s feature on Terry Moore’s follow up to Strangers In Paradise, Echo.

And, if insanely beautiful sci-fi comics by some of the greatest creators of the modern era aren’t your thing…well, you suck! But if you already knew about both those books and you’re looking for something new to read, check out our short and sweet story on 5 of the staff’s favorite web comics, including picks from former WU great and web comics guru Brian Warmoth.

Unfortunately for the mag’s readership, there were a few really great things we prepped for Edge that were cut due to space considerations. That’s good news for you interwebs types though, as Dave and I are going to be posting plenty of cool interviews to the blog over the next two weeks. So keep your eyes peeled!

Greetings! http://indiejones.wizarduniverse.com/2008/02/29/greetings/ http://indiejones.wizarduniverse.com/2008/02/29/greetings/#comments Fri, 29 Feb 2008 18:45:51 +0000 David Paggi http://indiejones.wizarduniverse.com/2008/02/29/greetings/ Hello world!

Welcome to Indie Jones—the independent/alternative comics blog at Wizard Universe!

We’ve got a lot of great things planned for this blog, like interviews, reviews, news, what kind of tea I’m drinking (Raspberry Zinger) and so much more!

We’ll start off with some sweet Friday morning links to check out…

First, Super Spy creator Matt Kindt has posted some images from his next graphic novel over at his blog. The book is called Super Natural. He hasn’t said what its about yet, but he has said he’ll be using some historical figures like Harry Houdini, Amelia Earhart and Morgan Earp in it. Good enough for us!

In other news Brian Maruca and Jim Rugg are doing a brand new 10-page Street Angel story for Superior Showcase #3 from AdHouse! Over at his blog Rugg posts a page and says the book should be out at Heroes Con this summer. Hooray!

Rounding out our RSS feed, James Jean has posted a page from his upcoming story in the next Meathaus anthology. Brilliant as always.

Wrapping up, I encourage everyone to go check out my new favorite web comic, Patches, by Kelly Vivanco (she’s also got some beautiful paintings on her site). If you don’t find it very funny we probably wouldn’t get along as friends. Just sayin’.

Well that’s it for now! Be sure to check back for more (later today, *wink wink*)!
